Officials Give Update On Texas Flooding

As families in Texas grieve the loss of loved ones — many of them children — from the devastating July 4th weekend floods, Rosie O’Donnell has taken it upon herself to politicize the tragedy in the most grotesque way possible.

In a TikTok rant over the weekend, the longtime Trump critic — who fled the country for Ireland after his 2016 election — made the baseless and inflammatory claim that the president is responsible for the deadly flooding. Her evidence? None, just another deranged performance.

“You know, when the president guts all of the early warning systems and the weather forecasting abilities of the government these are the results,” O’Donnell claimed, suggesting that Trump’s leadership directly led to the deaths of young girls at Camp Mystic.

She then launched into an attack on the recently passed “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” concluding, “People will die — and they’ve already started.”

So let’s be clear: Rosie O’Donnell implied President Trump is to blame for the drowning deaths of children in Texas. No mention of geography. No mention of local infrastructure. No mention of the 400+ first responders still combing the rivers and ravines for survivors and bodies. Just a cheap, heartless political swipe.

Was she alone in politicizing the disaster? Sadly, no.

Left-wing activist Ron Filipkowski chimed in with this gem:

“The people in Texas voted for government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott. That is exactly what they [sic] getting.”

Apparently, blaming voters for the deaths of children is now acceptable discourse on the Left.

Here are the facts Rosie and her cohort conveniently ignored:

  • Kerr County, where the worst flooding occurred, did not have a countywide flood warning system in place. That’s not on Trump — that’s local mismanagement.

  • The National Weather Service, a federal agency, issued alerts well in advance.

“A flood watch was issued for Kerr County more than 12 hours ahead of the catastrophic flood,” Texas meteorologist Avery Tomasco reported.
“A flash flood warning was issued for Hunt & Ingram three hours before the Guadalupe started to climb.”

In other words: the federal warning system worked. Emergency forecasting didn’t fail. Local communication, infrastructure, and preparedness did.

Meanwhile, President Trump — who was in Bedminster when the tragedy occurred — is coordinating with Governor Abbott and planning to visit the area on Friday. Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a statewide day of prayer. Over 400 responders from 20 agencies are working tirelessly on rescue and recovery.

But none of that mattered to Rosie O’Donnell, who saw an opportunity to score a political point on the backs of grieving families and seized it without hesitation.

Rosie didn’t blame President Biden in 2020 when 107 people died in flooding and landslides in North Carolina. And she’s certainly not blaming blue-state officials when natural disasters strike their jurisdictions.
