As part of an interview hosted on MSNBC, squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) exclaimed that these investigations concerning President Joe Biden’s classified document scandal are just the Republicans trying to play a “political game.”
The statements were made in the wake of a report from CBS News last week which stated that a cache of classified documents was found hidden at a Biden think tank.
Even more potentially damaging information came to light as the week progressed, including information about additional classified documents being discovered hidden in the garage of Biden’s personal residence located in Delaware.
An announcement from U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, issued last week, explained that he had officially appointed former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur — known for having served under the Trump administration — to work as the special counsel for this ongoing investigation in the wake of U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch, who was the first person assigned to look over the initial review of the scandal, pushed for Garland to call in a special counsel for the ordeal.
Omar issued these insane statements as part of a Saturday interview alongside Symone Sanders when she made the claim that Republicans defended Trump after the man “literally stole classified documents.”
Omar made the claim that Trump “refused to turn them over, lied about having them, made up some story about how he declassified them, [and] had to have his house raided in order for those documents to be found.”
Omar was quite insistent about the idea that those very same Republicans “are now only interested in investigating Biden, who has cooperated, whose own staff and former staff have themselves turned these documents in.”
“You have to understand, Republicans aren’t really interested in upholding the law, in following security protocols,” she exclaimed. “What they’re interested in is playing a political game in now only wanting to investigate Biden.”
Omar then went on to make the claim that she was quite “glad that there is a special prosecutor that’s been appointed to investigate this… because any time there is a deviance in regard to security protocols, that should be taken serious, it should be investigated.”
