The fallout from the Annunciation Catholic School shooting in Minneapolis has now turned toward the family of the gunman, 23-year-old Robin Westman. According to Fox News, his mother, Mary Grace Westman, has retained a criminal defense attorney in the wake of the tragedy — a move that has raised as many questions as it has answered.

Her attorney insists she is not culpable: “She is completely distraught about the situation and has no culpability but is seeking an attorney to deal with calls like this.” Still, the timing and circumstances surrounding her involvement in her son’s life are drawing scrutiny.
Strange development; mom hires a defense lawyer but says she has no role in the shooting.
My opinion, but I wouldn’t be shocked if she helped him buy the guns or ammo.

Court documents reviewed by reporters show that in 2019, Mary Grace Westman applied for Robin to legally change his name, citing that “the minor identifies as female and wants her name to reflect the identification.” At the time, Robin was still a teenager. Critics now wonder whether her decision to affirm that identity set him down a troubled path that ultimately ended in mass violence.
He “transitioned” when he was about 16….Which means the mother/parents groomed him.
That’s why she is accountable for it, at least partially.

That scrutiny has only deepened as reports suggest Mary Grace has not been cooperating fully with police investigators since the attack. While some defend her as a grieving mother blindsided by her son’s actions, others point to what appears to be a pattern of silence and avoidance. Online discussions have turned especially harsh, with many accusing her of enabling her son’s spiral into confusion, isolation, and ultimately violence.

What is clear is that Robin Westman’s identity struggles were central to his unraveling. His manifesto — written partly in code and uploaded online before the shooting — revealed deep regret over his transgender identification, alongside hatred of religion, Jews, and even fantasies about killing Donald Trump. The combination of radical ideology, mental health collapse, and violent intent was devastating.
Mary Grace’s role in that story remains murky. Was she a parent trying to support her child through turbulent years, or did she inadvertently push him deeper into destructive illusions? The fact that she is now lawyered up suggests investigators are exploring every angle.
