Congresswoman Posts Video After Giving Comment To Reporter

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) delivered a fiery response to a reporter pressing her about President Donald Trump’s sweeping January 6 pardons, offering a searing critique of the media’s fixation on the topic while drawing attention to what she described as the hypocrisy of their silence on other controversial pardons. Her comments, posted to her X account, have since gone viral, offering a window into the growing frustration among many Americans toward legacy media coverage and its perceived biases.

The exchange took place on Wednesday, hours after Trump signed an executive order pardoning nearly all individuals charged with January 6-related crimes. The reporter, clearly intent on focusing the narrative on Trump’s decision, asked Greene about the pardons, only to receive a fiery rebuke from the congresswoman. Greene’s pointed response shifted the focus to the media’s neglect of former President Joe Biden’s last-minute pardons, as well as their broader treatment of issues like crime, protests, and political violence.

“Is this all you’re really talking about, is the J6ers have been pardoned?” Greene asked the reporter. When the reporter confirmed, Greene took the opportunity to highlight Biden’s highly controversial pardons, including five members of his own family and dozens of violent criminals, commuted just before he left office. Among them were individuals convicted of heinous crimes, including the murder of a police officer and the kidnapping and murder of a 12-year-old girl. “Joe Biden pardoned all these murderers and rapists and disgusting people,” Greene said. “And then everybody up here has got their panties in a wad because J6ers got pardoned.”

Her frustration only grew as the reporter continued to push on the January 6 issue while refusing to engage on Biden’s pardons or other topics. Greene’s critique wasn’t limited to Biden’s actions but extended to what she sees as the double standards in media coverage. She pointed out the lack of accountability for antifa and Black Lives Matter activists involved in riots and destruction across American cities during 2020, where, according to her, “over 95% of them” never faced consequences. “Go do a story on all these cities BLM burned to the ground, and they never built back,” she said.

Greene also touched on what she described as the growing distrust of the media among the American public. “You are not trusted, and people are sick of you,” she told the reporter. In a follow-up post to her X account, Greene doubled down: “After 4 yrs, I’m fed up with Washington DC press. Your assumptions are ignorant and you are absolutely disconnected and clueless about what is important in life and to Americans. You have destroyed your credibility. With social media like X, you can’t lie about me anymore.”

This isn’t the first time Greene has taken aim at the media for what she and many conservatives see as selective outrage. Her reference to January 6 defendants as individuals who “walked through open doors” underscores the ongoing debate over the severity of charges against those involved. Many have argued that the treatment of January 6 participants has been disproportionately harsh compared to other instances of political violence, such as the riots during the summer of 2020.

The timing of Trump’s pardons, issued just hours after his second inauguration, only added to the media frenzy. Yet Greene’s comments reveal a broader frustration among Trump supporters who believe the press’s fixation on January 6 is out of step with the priorities of most Americans. Greene’s claim that the media is “absolutely disconnected” from what matters to everyday people resonates with many voters who feel ignored by the political and media establishment.

While Greene’s approach is unlikely to win her fans among mainstream journalists, her blunt, unapologetic style has struck a chord with her base. Her willingness to call out what she sees as media hypocrisy and bias reflects a sentiment shared by many conservatives, who increasingly rely on alternative platforms like X for news and analysis, bypassing legacy outlets altogether.
