Well, you know the left has completely lost the plot when Hollywood elites and radical activists are storming Trump Tower in defense of a guy who wants to see the “total eradication of Western civilization.”
That’s right—protesters, led in part by actress Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment, An Officer and a Gentleman), flooded Trump’s New York headquarters Thursday, demanding that pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil be allowed to stay in the country despite his open hostility toward America.
Khalil, a Columbia University student and organizer of last year’s anti-Israel protests, recently had his green card revoked after U.S. officials determined he posed a threat. And why wouldn’t they? This is a man who has literally called for bringing down the U.S. government and incited anti-American demonstrations on U.S. soil. But, of course, to the far-left activists flooding Manhattan, he’s a victim.
For days, his supporters have been protesting his arrest and looming deportation, staging demonstrations across New York City. Some of these protests turned violent, leading to clashes with the NYPD and arrests outside the state capitol. But Thursday’s spectacle inside Trump Tower took things to a whole new level.
Nearly 100 protesters from The Jewish Voice for Peace stormed the building, donning matching red shirts with the slogan “Jews say stop arming Israel” and chanting “Bring Mahmoud home now!” The NYPD repeatedly warned them to leave, but when they refused, officers moved in—arresting 98 people on charges including trespassing, obstruction, and resisting arrest.
And then there’s Debra Winger, who decided to throw in her two cents, accusing the Trump administration of “co-opting antisemitism” and “abducting” Khalil. Yes, you read that right. She claimed that a lawful arrest and an immigration hearing process is somehow illegal abduction.
“I’m just standing up for my rights, and I’m standing up for Mahmoud Khalil, who has been abducted illegally and taken to an undisclosed location,” Winger told the Associated Press. “Does that sound like America to you?”
Actually, yes, it does. Because in America, if you’re a foreign national who openly calls for the downfall of the government and stirs up anti-American protests, you don’t get to stay. That’s how national security works.
New York City officials, meanwhile, are scrambling to figure out how protesters were even able to get inside Trump Tower in the first place. Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry confirmed that no one was injured during the protest but said the city will be reviewing security protocols to prevent another breach.
