In an announcement issued this past Saturday, the new CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, explained that he will now reinstate the account of former president Donald Trump despite statements from Trump expressing that he will not under any circumstances make the move back to the platform again.
This announcement from Elon Musk takes place after more than 15 million people issued votes in a no-scientific poll that he highlighted on his account where he asked the internet if Trump should be allowed back on the platform.
The end result for the online poll highlighted that 51.8 % stated “yes,” while 48.2% stated “no.”

“The people have spoken,” stated Musk. “Trump will be reinstated.”
On numerous occasions, the former president has stated that he will not be coming back to the platform, even if Musk chooses to unlock his old account.
When the news first went public back in April that Musk was seeking to purchase Twitter and take the company private, Trump answered the news by stating that he would still not be coming back.
“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth,” stated Trump. “The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter.”
Trump stated this past month that Twitter could not be “successful without” him and that he would refuse to come back to the platform.
“I am staying on Truth. I like it better, I like the way it works, I like Elon, but I’m staying on Truth,” explained Trump near the end of last month. “If I choose to run, I will only use Truth.”
Despite the claims from Trump about it being a choice, there are quite a few contractual worried taking place with Trump going back to Twitter as a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission stated that Trump agreed to first post anything to his Truth Social first account for a total of six hours before being able to post it again to any other platform.
The filing states that “President Trump has agreed to first channel any and all social media communications and posts coming from his personal profile to the Truth Social platform before posting that same social media communication and/or post to any other social media platform that is not Truth Social (collectively, ‘Non-TMTG Social Media’) until the expiration of ‘DJT/TMTG Social Media 6-Hour Exclusive’ which means the period commencing when DJT posts any social media communication onto the Truth Social Platform and ending six (6) hours thereafter; provided that he may post social media communications from his personal profile that specifically relates to political messaging, political fundraising or get-out-the vote efforts at any time on any Non-TMTG social media platforms.”
