Fact-Checker For The Washington Post Slammed By Ted Cruz Over Recent Chinese Lab Leak Report

Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post fact-checker, found themself the target of heavy mockery from this past Sunday in the wake of the release of a new U.S. intelligence report that highlighted that at least one federal agency still thinks that the coronavirus pandemic originated from a Chinese lab leak.

Officials with the U.S. Energy Department found that the origin of the pandemic was most likely a horrible leak from a lab in Wuhan, China, expressed a report from The Wall Street Journal this past weekend. The FBI has also spoken up to say that they think the pandemic first started due to a leak from a Chinese lab.

This new conclusion came as the direct result of recently discovered intel “and is significant because the agency has considerable scientific expertise and oversees a network of U.S. national laboratories, some of which conduct advanced biological research,” stated the report.

Back in May of 2020, Cruz issued a response to a tweet coming from Kessler that stated that it was highly “doubtful” that the pandemic originated from the lab leak in Wuhan.

“Amazing’ is definitely right word for this video. WaPo ‘abandoning all pretenses of journalism to produce CCP propaganda’ would be another way to put it,” stated Cruz. “If this reporter submitted this video in a freshman logic class, it wouldn’t receive a passing grade.”

Cruz went on to issue a very lengthy thread in which he explained everything that was well-known at the time.

“I fear @tedcruz missed the scientific animation in the video that shows how it is virtually impossible for this virus jump from the lab,” Kessler expressed at that time. “Or the many interviews with actual scientists. We deal in facts, and viewers can judge for themselves.”

Cruz fired back a response to the tweet this past weekend in a social media post that highlighted a screenshot of a report from The Wall Street Journal, which sported the title, “Lab Leak Most Likely Origin of Covid-19 Pandemic, U.S. Agency Now Says.”

“4 ????’s for Glenn,” stated Cruz in his response.

As a Special Advisor for Communications for Cruz, Steve Guest also went after Kessler online because of the new report, labeling it “Kessler’s BIGGEST MISS ever.”
