Fox News announced Monday the official lineup for their prime–time shows for this coming July 17th. The highly anticipated decision comes in the wake of Tucker Carlson’s abrupt departure in April of this year.
The new lineup will focus on Laura Ingraham and Jesse Watters, as they are both taking over new prime–time slots in Fox News‘ lineup. Ingraham will start off the prime–time lineup at 7:00 p.m. Eastern with her show The Ingraham Angle. Watters will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Jesse Watters Primetime, formerly occupied by Carlson.
“FOX News Channel has been America‘s destination for news and analysis for more than 21 years and we are thrilled to debut a new lineup,” said Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media in a statement.
The lineup is bound to be successful, as Fox News noted that Watters’s show last year––when it was in the 7:00 p.m. ET slot––”was the fastest growing cable news program, crushing the competition across the board with 2.6 million viewers and 270,000 in the 25–54 demo year to date.” Moreover, Watters’ show has held number one in its time slot since its launch, “delivering the highest–rated 7 PM/ET hour in cable news history.”
Following Watters is Sean Hannity’s show at 9:00 p.m. and Greg Gutfeld’s Gutfeld! to close out the night at 10:00 p.m. FOX News @ Night with Trace Gallagher will also be airing at 11:00 p.m.
Since the beginning of the year, Fox News has seen a decline in viewership; however, many are optimistic about the revival of the network with the new lineup and have their hopes high that success will follow.
“The unique perspectives of Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters, Sean Hannity, and Greg Gutfeld will ensure our viewers have access to unrivaled coverage from our best–in–class team for years to come,” Scott said.
It remains to be seen what long–term effects the new lineup will have for Fox News, but the network appears to be well–positioned for success. As of now, Watters is the person to watch as he takes over Carlson’s former 8:00 p.m. slot.
