Matt Gaetz Finds Himself The Most Recent Target For Marjorie Taylor Greene

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) found himself the target of some heavy criticism coming from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on social media in the wake of drama which has come to a head earlier this month throughout the battle for who would take the gavel as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.

These comments coming from Greene take place as the legislator has carried out a recent and aggressive rebranding in the wake of her heavily chaotic first few days in office.

Greene’s efforts have ended up resulting in her trying to break away from the unstable fringes of the party and trying to set herself up as a more team-oriented player, which has given her a much stronger position within the Republican Party.

Gaetz spoke out to congratulate Greene for her success in gaining spots as members of key committees after Democrats banded together to force her out of doing her committee assignments during her first term in Congress.

“Bravo @mtgreenee!” stated Gaetz on social media. “She’s going to do amazing work for the people on these key committees she has EARNED. ‘Rep. MTG of Gerogia is back on committee assignments now that Republicans have retaken the House and the Rep. Gaetz-led revolt has put some steel in McCarthy’s spine.’”

Greene quickly shot back, “Thanks to @SpeakerMcCarthy & Steering for voting me on the committees I requested on the submission form most of us filled out.”

“Too bad we’re weeks behind after you spent a week only getting MTV from 5 to 1,” Greene went on. “As the leading MAGA voice in Congress, I look forward to committees.”

In this scenario, MTV stands for “motion to vacate.” Previously, it took a certain number of the members of Congress to come forward with a motion to vote about the removal of the Speaker of the House, but after negotiations that has dropped down to a single member. As explained by a report from NBC, “The threshold for bringing a motion to vacate stayed at just a single member of Congress until 2019 when Democrats took the majority,”  and raised the threshold.

Gaetz seemed shocked by the response from Greene, stating: “Well, we got a few other things but I’m thrilled the MTV is back to the pre-Pelosi standard. Totally worth it!”

“We the People will be in better hands with MTG holding the corrupt Biden Admin accountable via committee service,” he went on. “I’m so here for it.”

“The rules package did not change at all from Jan 1st to Jan 6th, except MTV went from 5 to 1,” fired back Greene. “Literally anyone can read them online and see that. All substantial negotiations happened in conference & 5 families meetings before the 15 ballots starting on Jan 3rd.”
