Trump Administration Reportedly Sent More Than 100 Customs Enforcement Officers To Minneapolis

The Trump administration has drawn a new, decisive line in the sand—and this time, it cuts straight through the heart of Minneapolis.

As The Daily Wire has confirmed, a sweeping deportation operation targeting Somali nationals with final removal orders is now underway. More than 100 ICE officers, pulled in from across the country, have deployed to the Twin Cities with a mission: apprehend and remove up to 500 Somalis who were ordered to leave the U.S. long ago and never complied. And any additional illegal immigrants caught during the sweep? Fair game.

This is not an isolated operation. It is the culmination of months of investigation, years of unchecked criminality, and a political will that finally matches the scale of the problem.

The decision to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali nationals in Minnesota last month was the first domino. President Trump made it clear: “Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State, and BILLIONS of Dollars are missing… It’s OVER.”

He wasn’t exaggerating.

According to federal prosecutors, what’s happened in Minnesota over the last few years isn’t just fraud—it’s industrial-scale criminal enterprise, with billions of taxpayer dollars siphoned off through fake nonprofits, fraudulent daycare centers, shell food programs, and Medicaid grift. From there, the money allegedly flowed outward—to Turkey, Kenya, and even Somalia, where terrorist group Al-Shabaab reportedly received funds. Yes, you read that right: U.S. welfare dollars, stolen and funneled to foreign terror groups.

To date, 78 Somali nationals have been charged for their alleged roles in the fraud, according to the White House. One nonprofit, supposedly feeding children during the COVID pandemic, allegedly redirected its federal dollars to buy luxury homes and high-end cars, all while no meals were ever served. Another scheme involved shell corporations set up to create the illusion of housing services and medical care—paper trails with no people behind them.

This didn’t happen by accident. It happened under sanctuary policies, in a state where government oversight collapsed under the weight of political correctness. Minnesota’s leadership, particularly under Democratic Governor Tim Walz, has been more concerned with optics than accountability. The result? Cartel-style fraud in the heartland, dressed up in the language of inclusion and humanitarianism.

Now, the gloves are off.

This operation is more than law enforcement—it’s a message. A message that immigration laws matter. That taxpayer funds are not infinite. That sanctuary policies have real-world consequences. And that communities exploiting U.S. generosity while fueling transnational crime rings will no longer be ignored.

Critics will no doubt attempt to frame this as heavy-handed, even xenophobic. But there is nothing xenophobic about enforcing the law—especially when that law is being broken by individuals who have already been ordered to leave and who, in many cases, are now linked to one of the largest welfare fraud rings in modern U.S. history.

As U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson put it plainly: “The depth of the fraud in Minnesota takes my breath away.”

It should take yours away too.
