Trump Issues Directive To DOJ

President Donald Trump wasted no time in overhauling the Department of Justice, ordering the immediate termination of all remaining U.S. attorneys appointed by the Biden administration. In a bold post on Truth Social, Trump made his stance crystal clear: “We must ‘clean house’ IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence.”

For anyone paying attention, this move shouldn’t come as a surprise. U.S. attorneys serve at the pleasure of the president, and it’s common for a new administration to replace holdovers from the previous one. But in this case, it’s not just about routine transition—it’s about dismantling what Trump has long called a “politicized” and “weaponized” Justice Department.

Trump’s order follows reports that termination letters had already been sent to several Biden-era U.S. attorneys last week, signaling that the administration was preparing for a full purge. And make no mistake—this isn’t just about reshuffling personnel. This is about dismantling the legal apparatus that many believe was used to target Trump himself.

Over the past few years, Americans have watched as the Justice Department pursued case after case against the sitting president. From Jack Smith’s special counsel investigation into classified documents to the various legal entanglements surrounding the 2020 election, it was clear that the DOJ had become a political weapon. Now, Trump is making good on his campaign promise to restore justice to the Justice Department.

Jack Smith, the special counsel behind some of the most aggressive prosecutions against Trump, saw the writing on the wall and resigned before Inauguration Day. But others chose to dig in, and now they’re out.

Not everyone was willing to comply with Trump’s directive. In a particularly high-profile case, acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Danielle Sassoon, along with five of her staffers, resigned rather than follow Trump’s order to drop a corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Sassoon accused the DOJ of engaging in a “quid pro quo”—a claim that will no doubt become a talking point for Trump’s political opponents.

But let’s be honest—does anyone really believe Adams, a Democrat, would have been convicted in Biden’s DOJ? The agency was more than happy to investigate and indict Trump’s allies while giving free passes to the political elite on the left. Trump is simply applying the same rules across the board.

Throughout the 2024 election, Trump made it clear that he intended to drain the swamp and end the political weaponization of federal agencies. His latest move proves that wasn’t just campaign rhetoric—it’s action.

The real question now is how the establishment will react. The media is already in meltdown mode, calling Trump’s decision unprecedented (even though every president replaces U.S. attorneys). Democrats are scrambling to frame this as an abuse of power, conveniently ignoring the fact that Biden’s DOJ aggressively pursued Trump while giving political allies a free pass.
