One leading House Republican has stated that the congressional investigation focusing on Hunter Biden is entirely essential to sparking a “legislative fix” in order to stop unsavory financial entanglements involving the president of the United States.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) repeatedly spotlighted a need for legislation during an interview this past Sunday, just a scant few days after Biden’s attorney openly denied the request from the oversight panel to provide information, claiming that it showed “no legislative purpose.”
“We need to know what is allowable and what isn’t allowable,” explained Comer to George Stephanopoulos, the host of ABCNews’s “This Week.” “We need to have strict ethics laws and we need to significantly increase the disclosure laws in America. I think this investigation is going to be very important to fix a problem before it gets out of hand.”
Republicans in Congress are investigating whether or not Old Uncle Joe actually had any type of involvement in shady financial plans which could be worth millions of dollars related to his Hunter in countries such as Ukraine, China, and Russia. During the campaign, the elder Biden stated that he never actually spoke to Hunter Biden about his foreign business ventures, but Comer stated that Congressional investigators “have evidence that would suggest otherwise.”
Joe Biden's family made millions from adversaries like China. This jeopardizes national security.
We need stronger ethics & financial disclosure laws to prevent family members of those in power from selling access.
@GOPOversight will ensure accountability.

Just this past week, Comer sent out a number of requests calling for documents and other bits of information out to Hunter Biden and others. Abbe Lowell, the lawyer for Hunter Biden, fired back a quick response that explained that the oversight panel “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose and oversight basis for requesting such records from Mr. Biden, who is a private citizen.”
Lowell also put forth the offer to meet up with Comer’s committee “to see whether Mr. Biden has information that may inform some legitimate legislative purpose and be helpful to the Committee.”
It still remains to be seen whether or not Comer will actually try to take Lowell up on the offer. His Republican-led panel has the power to issue subpoenas and could escalate the standoff over the court in the coming days. Federal prosecutors are also looking into Hunter Biden for possible tax crimes and much more. The First Son has explained that he is quite certain that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
This past Sunday, Comer stated that any piece of legislation which is created by Congress can be bipartisan, acknowledging just how Democrats have spotlighted extreme concerns about the foreign business dealings of former President Donald Trump’s family. For example, Stephanopoulos highlighted Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and his connections to the Saudis.
Legislators will not be able to come to a “bipartisan legislative solution” until “we know the extent of what the Biden family influence peddling involved, especially with respect to Communist China,” concluded Comer.
