Ty Pennington Rushed to Hospital

Ty Pennington, best known as a design expert and host of multiple HGTV shows, experienced a major health scare this week, leading to emergency hospitalization.

The 58-year-old celebrity took to Instagram on Friday to detail his hospital stay and shared photos of himself intubated in the intensive care unit (ICU).

“From the red carpet, to the ICU… this last week has been interesting!” he began in his post.

Pennington explained he had been suffering from a sore throat for a month and woke up at 4am unable to breathe. It turns out he had an abscess that was blocking his airway and was flown to the ICU in Denver shortly after. He had surgery on Wednesday and was discharged from the ICU on Thursday.

“A great reminder to LISTEN to your body when it’s telling you something,” the entertainment star added. His rep shared with Fox News Digital that he is now on the mend and “will recuperate for 10 days and then get back to work on HGTV!”

Pennington became a household name when he joined the cast of TLC’s “Trading Spaces” in 2000. He then went on to host the popular ABC show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” from 2004 to 2012. He is currently in the fourth season of his new show “Rock the Block” and hosts HGTV’s “Battle on the Beach.”

Pennington is also set to appear in the new HGTV show, “Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge.” The show consists of eight teams competing to transform a South California home into a life-size version of Barbie’s iconic pink abode.

In 2021, Pennington married 35-year-old Kellee Merrell. The couple has not yet announced plans for when they plan to start a family.

Pennington is now on the road to recovery and the couple look forward to returning to their engagement activities in the near future.

Our thoughts are with Pennington and his family during this difficult time and we wish him a speedy recovery.
