GOP Response Has Bragg Crying ‘Unlawful Political Interference’

Alvin Bragg, the Leftist Manhattan District Attorney, accused members of the Republican party of intentionally interfering with his investigation of former President Donald Trump in the wake of the indictment for Trump being issued late last week.

Top House Republicans kicked off their own investigation and sent out a letter addressed to Bragg this past week as it was rumored that Trump could end up being indicted. Inside this letter, the Republicans requested an interview with Bragg and sought a number of documents and communications related to the district attorney’s investigation regarding Trump. Following the indictment of Trump, the Manhattan district attorney’s legal team shot back a response to Republicans.

“The Committees’ attempted interference with an ongoing state criminal investigation — and now prosecution — is an unprecedented and illegal incursion on New York’s sovereign interests,” explained Leslie Dubeck, who is the general counsel for Bragg’s office, as explained by Fox News.

“We urge you to refrain from these inflammatory accusations, withdraw your demand for information, and let the criminal justice process proceed without unlawful political interference,” the letter added.

Bragg is leading the investigation regarding Trump and his alleged $130,000 payment of hush money directed to porn actress Stormy Daniels during the election cycle back in 2016. Bragg’s prosecution of a former president and current presidential candidate has been viewed by House Republicans as an entirely “unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority.”

After Trump ended up being indicted last week, Bragg’s office elected to try and explain its actions in the unprecedented case.

“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected,” explained a statement from Bragg’s office.

Trump issued a response to his indictment late last week by accusing both Bragg and sitting Democrats of just trying to weaponize government to “destroy” his movement with a political “witch hunt.”

“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history,” stated Trump. “From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats — the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country — have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement.”
